The Brazilian Amazon

Amazon Lodge

The Amazon Lodge appeals to the more adventurous as getting there and back involves a lot of travelling, using vehicles, boats, etc. It is very distant and set in a very beautiful location; however rooms at the lodge do not have private bathrooms. Due to the distance a minimum of a three-night stay is recommended.

The Lodge, approximately four hours from Manaus, floating on the calm waters of Lake Juma, is surrounded by exuberant natural scenery, a rustic palm thatched retreat that will serve as your base to explore this part of the Brazilian Amazon. The lodge has twelve rooms, spartanly furnished and guests share three showers and toilets. It has an efficient staff under good management and offers very good cuisine.

The transfer to the Lodge is in four stages.  Firstly transfer by van, micro-bus or bus (depending on number of arriving guests) to Ceasa Port some 20 minutes away, followed by a 40 minute crossing by regional boat to Careiro, via Meeting of the Waters. Proceed by motor vehicle along the BR 319 to Araca (approximately 1 hour’s drive). Finally, a 90 minute seed boat transfer along Mamori River to Lake Juma where the lodge is situated.
