Day 1 – Departure from the UK.
Day 2 – Arrival in Rio de Janeiro and transfer to the hotel of your choice for a three-night stay. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 3 –Full-day tour visiting the Corcovado Mountain with its iconic statue of Christ the Redeemer. Take the small train that winds its way up the mountain through the lush tropical vegetation and offers glimpses of the treat that lies ahead. From the 700 m / 2,300 ft platform, you will enjoy one of the world's most spectacular views over the seven million strong city below that is framed by the mountainous landscape, the sea and the bay. In the afternoon, visit Sugar Loaf, the city’s other world famous landmark, climbing 400 m / 1,300 ft in a cable car to enjoy superb, but very different views across the city and its beaches. Lunch is included at an excellent seafood restaurant or, if you prefer, at a typical ‘churrascaria’ (barbecue restaurant). (B, L)
Day 4 –At leisure to enjoy the city and its beaches or to take one of a number of optional tours. (B)
Day 5 –Morning flight to Foz do Iguassu. Transfer to your hotel - if you choose to stay at Hotel Tropical das Cataratas you will be able to walk straight down to one of the world's great sights, the Iguassu Falls. Set amidst sub-tropical rainforest, up to 275 individual falls span across the 4 km / 2.5 miles that separate Brazil from Argentina and crash up to 70 m / 230 ft into the depths. (B)
Day 6 –The morning tour will explore the Brazilian side of the falls. In the afternoon, we will take you across the border to the Argentine side to enjoy close-up views of the park's wildlife, including its abundance of beautiful giant blue butterflies, and of the individual falls such as the spectacular Devil's Throat. (B)
Day 7 –Early morning departure to the Brazilian Amazon and Manaus via Sao Paulo. Transfer to the hotel. An afternoon tour includes the city’s restored opera house, the Teatro Amazonas, and the Indian Museum. (B)
Day 8 – Morning departure from Manaus for an excursion to visit the Amazon rainforest. Arrival at the lodge and lunch. In the afternoon and evening, guided outings to explore the region and forest, including spotting alligators by torchlight. (B, L, D)
Day 9 – After breakfast a morning nature hike followed by the return transfer to Manaus Airport for the flight to Brasilia. Transfer to and overnight at the hotel of your choice. (B)
Day 10 –Brazil’s purpose-built capital, a UNESCO World Heritage site, is divided into sectors for housing, government, commerce, hotels etc. This morning’s tour takes in some of the most impressive architecture in most of these sectors, including the ‘Catedral Metropolitana’ and ‘Teatro Nacional’. The afternoon is free to explore the city further or relax, before the evening flight to Salvador and a three-night stay at the hotel of your choice. (B)
Day 11 –Salvador is a city of natural beauty, magnificent architecture and countless colonial treasures. Morning excursion to the colonial centre to visit the lovingly restored Pelourinho district, another UNESCO World Heritage site, with its narrow alleyways, ornate churches and colourfully painted facades. (B)
Day 12 –Today is at leisure in Salvador with time to spend at the beach or to take an optional excursion. (B)
Day 13 –Time at leisure before the transfer to the airport for departure to Rio or Sao Paulo and the connecting flight to the UK. (B)
