Santiago / Lake District / Atacama
Day 1 – Departure from the UK.
Day 2–Morning arrival in Santiago and transfer to your hotel for a two-night stay. Remainder of the day at leisure.
Day 3 – Morning sightseeing tour of Santiago including the city’s highlights. Afternoon visit to the Maipo Valley, Chile’s best wine producing area. (B)
Day 4 –Fly from Santiago to Calama. Travel to San Pedro de Atacama, for three nights; lunch at hotel. Afternoon visits to the archaeological museum, the church of San Pedro and Tulor, a village partially buried by the desert sands that is over 2,800-years-old. (B, L)
Day 5 –Today’s visits will take you to the village of Toconao and the Atacama Salt Flat. Afternoon excursion into the Moon Valley to view the sunset. (B, L, D)
Day 6 – Early morning departure for the El Tatio Geysers. (B, L,
D)
Day 7 –Transfer to Calama airport for the flight to Puerto Montt, via Santiago. On arrival a short tour of the nearby resort before continuing on to Puerto Varas on the shores of Lake Llanquihue. Four-night stay at this delightful spot. (B)
Day 8 – At leisure in Puerto Varas to relax or for an optional excursion – maybe to Chiloe Island. (B)
Day 9 –Full-day excursion to the Todos los Santos Lake, passing through an outstanding landscape that includes the Osorno, Puntiagudo and Tronador volcanoes. Stop at the emerald green waterfalls of Petrohue before proceeding to the lake for lunch. Climb the Osorno Volcano and there will still be time to stroll through an ancient forest at the Rosales National Park, visiting the Green Lagoon and walking on to enjoy memorable panoramic views. Day 10 – Day at leisure to relax or take an optional excursion. (B)
Day 11 – Transfer to the airport for the flight to Santiago. Remainder of the day at leisure. (B)
Day 12 – At leisure, before the transfer to the airport for the return flight to the UK, or extend your stay in Chile. (B)
