San Jose / Tortuguero / Arenal / Monteverde / Tamarindo
Day 1 – Flight from the UK to San Jose. Arrival transfer to Alta Hotel for a two night stay.
Day 2 – One day tour to the Poas Volcano, a coffee plantation and La Paz Waterfall Gardens. Lunch included. (B, L)
Day 3 –Early departure driving through the rain forest of Braulio Carrillo National Park. Join a boat specially designed for canal navigation for the two hour transfer to Tortuguero area located in lush tropical jungle. Lunch. Afternoon at leisure to visit the wonderful natural attractions, walk the nature trails or just relax in a hammock. Overnight at Mawamba Lodge. (B, L, D)
Day 4 –Spend the day in this magnificent location and see a wide array of birds, animals and plant life. Morning tour toTortuguero Hill or National Park, for a hiking trip along the trails. Lunch at the lodge. Afternoon canal boat tour. (B, L, D)
Day 5 –Breakfast and transfer by boat and ground via Guápiles to San Carlos. This landscape of exceptional beauty has forests, lagoons, fields of crops, rivers with hot springs, and the most active volcano Arenal. Overnight at Volcano Lodge (B)
Day 6 –AMorning Arenal Hanging bridges tour. Afternoon visit to Arenal Volcano and Tabacon Hot Springs. Dinner and overnight (B, D)
Day 7 –Transfer to Monteverde (established in the 1950’s with impetus from a group of Quakers who produced milk and quality cheeses) located 172 kilometres northeast of San José at the south of the Cloud Forest. Overnight at Fonda Vela hotel. (B)
Day 8 –Morning visit to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve. Afternoon at leisure to enjoy the area or take an optional tour (B)
Day 9 –After breakfast ground transfer to Tamarindo on the North Pacific coast. Four night stay at Tamarindo Diria hotel. (B)
Days 10 to 12–At leisure to enjoy the beach (B)
Day 13 –After breakfast transfer to Tamarindo airstrip and flight to San Jose Overnight stay at Alta Hotel. (B)
