Highlights of Guatemala

Day 1 – Flight to Guatemala City. Upon arrival, meet and transfer to Antigua and the hotel of your choice for a two night stay.

Day 2 – Morning half day walking tour of Antigua. Afternoon visit to the local woodcarvers in the village of Jocotenango & then the Azotea Coffee Farm & Maya Museums covering traditional music, costume & traditions. (B,L)

Day 3 – Transfer to Lake Atitlan passing through the central highlands of Guatemala. See local Maya people in small markets and working in the fields. Pass through Solola which has a market. Arrive at chosen hotel for two nights. Afternoon at leisure or time to explore the area. (B)

Day 4 – Boat tour of some of the local Maya villages surrounding Lake Atitlan. See textiles and the church in St Catarina Palopo.and Naiv art in San Juan Laguna. Across the lake to the village ofSantiago for lunch and visit to the famous Maya God, Maximon. (B,L)

Day 5 – Today’s tour will take you through the highlands to the famous market at Chichicastenango. Time for shopping and visit to the local church to see Maya rituals. Lunch then transfer to Guatemala City airport for flight to northern rainforest. Two night stay in the Tikal region. (B,L)

Day 6 – Visit Tikal National Park. Explore the amazing site where huge Mayan temples rise above the jungle canopy and monkeys and tropical birds abound in the surrounding rainforest. Lunch then transfer back to airport for flight to Guatemala City. Overnight . Opportunity to dine out in a lively area of the city. (B,L)

Day 7 – Transfer to the airport for flight back to the UK (B)
