Lima / Cusco / Machu Picchu
Day 1 – Depart on morning flight to Lima, arriving in the evening. Transfer to your hotel for a two-night stay.
Day 2 – Morning at leisure. Afternoon city tour of classical and modern Lima, taking in the Plaza San Martin and Plaza de Armas, the Cathedral and Government Palace. (B)
Day 3 – Fly to Cusco and transfer to hotel. Afternoon tour of the capital city of the Inca Empire visiting the Plaza del Armas, the Cathedral and the Santo Domingo Monastery before continuing to the Inca ruins of Tambomachay, Kenko, Puca Pucara and Sacsayhuaman. (B)
Day 4 – Drive through the Sacred Valley of the Incas, visiting the fortress of Ollantaytambo. After lunch at a nearby inn, shop in the lively and colourful Pisac market. Overnight at hotel in Sacred Valley. (B, L)
Day 5 – Transfer to Ollanta station for Orient Express train to Machu Picchu, the Lost City of the Incas. Tour of the citadel including the main plaza, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of Three Windows and Sacred Sundial. Lunch at Orient Express Sanctuary Lodge hotel. Overnight at hotel of choice. (B, L)
Day 6 – Morning at leisure to revisit Machu Picchu at sunrise or a hike up Huayana Picchu peak for views of the citadel. Afternoon transfer by Orient Express train service to Cusco and overnight. (B)
Day 7 – Day at leisure to enjoy Cusco’s colonial churches and mansions, visit its beautiful piazzas or San Blas quarter or some shopping. Overnight. (B)
Day 8 – Transfer to the airport. Upon arrival in Lima connect to your flight home. (B)
